Father's Day 2011

Every Father's Day, a local car club called the Villa Capri Crusers hosts a car show at Nay Aug Park in Scranton. My dad & I have been faithful attendees every year, even though most years the temperature has been in the 90's! This year was no exception but luckily the temperature stayed in the low 80's with a nice breeze.

Every year the show gets bigger and bigger. There were more cars there this year than ever before. There were even some cars my dad & I had never seen, and that's saying alot because we've been going to car shows for years!

I always like to bring along a camera to the shows, but this year I brought 3 :) I had my Nikon D80, my Holga and my Diana (the latter 2 being film cameras. Film? What's that?) I'm sure I was quite a sight lugging around 3 cameras at once. My dad generously offered to hold my camera bag for me, but I kept switching amongst them so I decided to keep the bag.

I've posted some of the shots I took with the Nikon here. When I get the rolls of film developed, I'll be sure to post some of them as well.

I'll leave you with a picture of my dream car - A 1949 Mercury. If I ever win the lottery, this is one of the first things I'm getting :)

Memorial Day weekend 2011

It’s that time of year again… St. Ubaldo Day!

Chances are that if you’re not from around these parts or from Gubbio, Italy, you probably aren’t familiar with this celebration. I’ve linked to the wiki article up above, but in short, it is a commemoration of St. Ubaldo that is celebrated by a town-wide party and Race of the Saints. It takes place every Memorial Day weekend, and it’s finally here!

Tonight is the Fireman’s Parade and tomorrow is Race Day. I’ve been looking forward to this three day weekend for quite some time. I really need a few days off when I can just relax. Of course, a trip to the beer tent doesn't hurt either!

About Peyton

I know I am not very good at keeping up with this. I will try to be better at it.

Since I have last posted, we found out more information about Peyton.

She was around 6 months when we adopted her. Her mom is a Sheltie and her dad was a whippet. The type of dog she is is called a "Lurcher" and she is a cross between a "Sighthound" (whippet) and Sheltie. Sighhounds are hounds that primarily hunt by speed and sight, instead of by scent and endurance as scent hounds do.

It was so nice to find out about her history :)

Big Announcement!!!

Last month, Sean & I welcomed a new addition to our family!

Meet Peyton!

We adopted her from the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter. At the time, she was 4 or 5 months old. She is part Sheltie (from her mom) and part possible Pit Bull or German Shepard from her dad.

She is just a puppy but she is very smart and is learning things quickly. Rhett still isn't sure what to think about her. They get along fairly well with a fight only once in a while.

Happy June!

I'm a little late but I can't believe June is here already!

Rhett is very happy about that.

He loves being outside and playing fetch with his stick. He'll wear himself out and take a nap on the hot concrete patio just so he can stay outside.

We have been cooking on the grill and eating outside a lot which is wonderful. It was one of my New Year's resolutions to spend as much time outside as we could to enjoy the nice weather and I'm so happy we have been able to do that.

Sean's mom came in for a visit this past weekend and we had a very nice time. She's trying to get back later in the fall and hopes to spend a week with us. I can't wait!
